Slowdown? Not in the Midlands or Scotland

The housing market may be cooling down south, but for sellers in the Midlands and the north of England it is hotter than it has been in a decade. According to research by Countrywide for The Times, the average time taken to sell has fallen in every neighbourhood north of Birmingham, with the average seller in northern England having their property on the market for the shortest time since 2007.

David Fell, a research analyst at Countrywide, says: “It’s been a decade since sellers in the Midlands and the north have had it so good. This year they’ve had their home sell sooner and for a greater proportion of the asking price than they have at any time since 2007.”

The West Midlands came out…
